Think of your body as a garden. Every nutrient-ric Think of your body as a garden. Every nutrient-rich meal you eat is like planting seeds of health, nurturing your body with the vitamins and minerals it needs to flourish.

But, every processed snack or fake food is like pouring toxins into the soil, fostering an environment where disease can take root.

So, with every meal choice, you’re essentially tending to your garden of well-being, deciding whether to cultivate vitality or sow the seeds of illness.

It’s a powerful analogy that highlights the importance of mindful eating for our overall health.

Just like in a garden, the occasional weed or pest won’t completely destroy it. Similarly, indulging in occasional treats or less nutritious meals won’t derail your health journey.

It’s when these unhealthy choices become the norm, overshadowing the nutrient-rich foods, that imbalances occur.

Over time, this imbalance can weaken your body’s defenses, making it more susceptible to disease.

So, maintaining a balance where the majority of your diet consists of wholesome foods ensures that your body remains resilient against the long-term effects of unhealthy choices.

It’s all about finding that equilibrium for sustained well-being. ❤️

#AD #Serenitykidspartner We took homeschool outsi #AD #Serenitykidspartner

We took homeschool outside today in honor of Earth Day. 🌎

We made planet Earth crafts, had a delicious real-food picnic, and planted some seeds using upcycled baby food pouches as seedling starters. 🌱

Shout out to @myserenitykids puffs for keeping my one-year-old busy while my three-year-old got messy with paint. 🤪

If you’ve been here a while, then you know my love for serenity kids baby food runs deep.

Their products are all made with real food ingredients, no added sugar, no questionable oils, or weird ingredients.

But on top of all of that, they make sure to support ethical farming practices and regenerative agriculture when sourcing their ingredients. ❤️

Not only do they prioritize making healthy food for our babies, but they also care about leaving the future generation with a healthy planet. 🌍

And that’s something I fully support. 🙌

Doing anything special for earth day today??

I loved my morning cup of coffee just as much as t I loved my morning cup of coffee just as much as the next person, but what I didn’t love was the way it always made me feel — heart racing, jittery, and anxious. 🤪

As an overstimulated mom of two, I’m already naturally jittery and anxious 😆 I certainly don’t need anymore of that added to my personality.

But, some nights I don’t sleep well. And Some mornings, I crave a little extra energy boost and that’s when I reach for my matcha. 🍵

What I love about matcha is that, even though it does have caffeine.. it does not leave me feeling all jittery like coffee does.

The reason is because of L-THEANINE, an amino acid found in green tea leaves. It’s known for its ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress without causing drowsiness.

And when combined with caffeine found in matcha, it creates a beautiful synergistic effect that leaves you feeling energized and alert, but without the anxiety.

I use @furtherfood matcha collagen which is tested extensively for heavy metal contamination!

Recipe for matcha latte is super easy!

I mix one scoop matcha collagen with about 1 cup hot water, top with homemade cashew creamer, splash of maple and that’s it!

🙂🙂🙂🙂

Comment CAKE for recipe and products used! Three Comment CAKE for recipe and products used!

Three years ago I made this same cake for my son’s first birthday 🥹 his party was ninja turtle themed so I used spinach to turn the icing green 😛 everyone still loved the cake 🤷‍♀️ including my then one year old.

Fast forward to today, we’ve made this cake recipe many many times throughout the years.

Sometimes for birthdays and other times, just because.

It’s my favorite recipe and I hold it near and dear to my heart because of its sentimental value.

This past weekend we celebrated our girl’s first birthday, and once again I was able to make my baby’s first birthday cake all over again. ❤️ It’s a family tradition.

I used @indiatree non-dye food-based food coloring for the buttercream but regular beet powder or powdered freeze dried berries will work as well to achieve that pretty pink.

Everyone devoured the cake, including baby girl.

No dyes.
No artificial flavors.
No tons and tons of processed sugar.
No super hybridized wheat flour with modern gluten.

Just real whole food.
And still, just as delicious. ❤️

RECIPE FOR BUTTER CREAM FROSTING:

Ingredients:

2 sticks room temperature butter
1/2 cup maple sugar
1/4 cup tapioca flour
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
Beet powder or powdered freeze-dried berries for pink color (optional)

Instructions:

In a stand mixer, whip room temperature butter until smooth.

Gradually add maple sugar and tapioca flour while continuing to whip until a smooth frosting forms.

Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk to achieve a smooth frosting consistency. Add vanilla.

Optionally, add beet powder or powdered freeze-dried berries for pink color.

Mix until well combined.

Use the frosting to decorate the cake as desired. Enjoy!

Ya’ll KNOW store bought bone broth is EXPENSIVE! E Ya’ll KNOW store bought bone broth is EXPENSIVE! Especially if you’re buying the high quality organic stuff… I can’t believe I didn’t think of doing this sooner but… I’m never going back to store bought after learning how to make my own at home. And it’s soooo easy and much tastier too.

Ingredients:
Bones from 2 to 3 whole chickens
1 whole red onion
5 whole garlic cloves
1 cup of baby carrots or 2 to 3 large carrots, chopped
½ tablespoon dried thyme
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon salt
Enough water to cover the bones (approximately 8 to 10 cups)

Instructions:
1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather the bones from the rotisserie chicken or leftover whole chicken. If necessary, chop the carrots and onion into smaller pieces.
2. Add Ingredients to Instant Pot: Place the chicken bones, onion, garlic cloves, chopped carrots, dried thyme, apple cider vinegar, and salt into the Instant Pot.
3. Add Water: Pour enough water into the Instant Pot to fully cover the bones and vegetables. Avoid exceeding the maximum fill line.
4. Pressure Cook: Securely close the Instant Pot lid and set the pressure release valve to the sealing position. Cook on high pressure for 120 minutes.
5. Natural Pressure Release: Once the cooking cycle completes, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for 15 to 20 minutes to ensure a gradual depressurization.
6. Strain the Broth: Use a strainer to strain the broth, removing all bones, vegetables, and solids.
7. Transfer and Cool: Pour the strained broth into jars or containers. Allow the broth to cool to room temperature before refrigerating or freezing.
8. Refrigerate or Freeze: Once cooled, store the broth in the refrigerator if using it within a few days. For longer storage, transfer the broth to freezer-safe containers and freeze for later use.

Homemade bone broth offers a nutrient-rich elixir, packed with collagen, amino acids, and minerals, supporting gut health, immunity, and joint function.

1. FIRST MORNING LIGHT ☀️:

First morning light plays a crucial role in regulating our circadian rhythm, which is our body’s internal clock responsible for controlling sleep-wake cycles. Exposure to natural light, especially in the morning, helps reset this internal clock, signaling to our bodies that it’s time to wake up and be alert.

2. MATCHA LATTES OVER COFFEE 🍵:

L-theanine, an amino acid naturally found in tea leaves, including those used to make matcha, is known for its calming effects on the mind and body. When consumed, L-theanine promotes the production of alpha brain waves, which are associated with a state of relaxation and alertness. By increasing alpha wave activity in the brain, L-theanine helps reduce feelings of stress and anxiety while promoting a sense of calmness and mental clarity.

3. COLD SHOWERS 🚿:

Yes, cold showers can indeed provide a burst of energy and help wake you up. When your body is exposed to cold water, it triggers a physiological response known as the “cold shock response.” This response activates your sympathetic nervous system, leading to increased heart rate, blood circulation, and adrenaline production, which can help you feel more alert and energized. GIVE IT A TRY!! It’s not easy but it does WAKE YOU UP!

Do you do any of these? Will you try any next time you have a bad night of sleep?! Let me know!!

Trick question. They can’t do that because without Trick question. They can’t do that because without TBHQ, the candy would spoil after sitting on shelves for months on end, just like real food is supposed to.

And without artificial flavors, consumers wouldn’t get addicted and crave the candy every holiday season, leading to fewer sales.

Unfortunately ultra processed food manufacturers prioritize shelf life and addictive properties over healthier ingredients.

Anyway, here’s the recipe for healthier homemade Reese’s peanut butter eggs without the TBHQ and artificial flavors 😜 :

Ingredients:

- ½ cup of peanut butter (or almond butter)
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons of coconut flour
- Melted chocolate (I use a mixture of cacao powder, coconut oil, and maple syrup)

Directions:

1. In a bowl, combine the peanut butter, maple syrup, and coconut flour. Let the mixture sit in the fridge for a few minutes until it is firm enough to shape into egg shapes. If the mixture is too runny, add another tablespoon of coconut flour.

2. Place the shaped “eggs” on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and transfer them to the freezer. Allow them to chill for at least 30 minutes.

3. While the eggs are chilling, melt the chocolate. You can use store-bought chocolate or make your own by mixing ¼ cup of cacao powder, 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil, and 2 tablespoons of room temperature maple syrup.

4. Remove the chilled eggs from the freezer and dip each one into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are evenly coated. You can use a fork to help with this process.

5. Return the chocolate-coated eggs to the baking sheet and place them back in the freezer until the chocolate has hardened.

6. Once the chocolate is firm, remove the eggs from the freezer and enjoy!

This whole there’s “no such thing as bad food” tre This whole there’s “no such thing as bad food” trend has big food written all over it.

I said what I said.

Lying to people about the potential effects of certain foods only benefits these big corporations and continues to hurt vulnerable consumers.

Instead we should be educating, which is NOT THE SAME as shaming, so that people can make informed decisions about the foods they consume.
